What Makes Racebox Special

Our humble beginnings

Racebox was conceptualized when our founder Hussain Boxwala was trying to purchase a tune for his VR30 powered Q50 back in 2018. When speaking with tuners, he realized that there was a need for clear communication, honest work, and prompt response service. In an effort to create the best customer experience possible, Hussain set out to develop his first Q50 calibration on his personal vehicle.

100% Honest Marketing

Our main goal is to provide customers with the most realistic expectations for their vehicles. This means we'll never lie about the mods on our shop cars, the times they run, or the power they make. We aim to always provide the most information possible, like listing ambient conditions and correction factors on all dyno charts. We're not here to push an agenda, we're here to help you achieve your goals.

World-class Customer Support

There's nothing more frustrating than waiting weeks for a reply from your tuner, which is why we'll never take longer than 48 hours to get back to you. Often times, it's same day replies. We know you value your time, and so do we. We're reachable via phone, text, or e-mail, and we'll never leave you hanging :)

Racemode Tuning FAQ

We've curated a list of the most common questions y'all have when reaching out to us. Please see the cards to the right for some of the more frequent ones.

What is VR30 Racemode Tuning?

Racemode Tuning isn’t just a tune—it’s a statement. Our proprietary calibration takes your VR30 to a level you didn’t know was possible. Whether you’re rolling in a Q50, Q60, or Nissan Z, this is the upgrade that puts you in the fast lane with serious horsepower, insane torque, and throttle response so sharp it’s borderline disrespectful.

Is VR30 Racemode Tuning safe for my ride?

Safe? Absolutely. Reliable? 100%. We don’t just throw numbers at the dyno and call it a day—we fine-tune your setup to perform like a beast without sacrificing your engine’s health. Reliability and power go hand-in-hand when Racebox is behind the wheel.

Which vehicles can run VR30 Racemode Tuning?

If it’s got a VR30 under the hood, it’s game on. That means Infiniti Q50, Q60, and the new Nissan Z. You’re in the right place.

What kind of power are we talking here?

For a VR30, we’re talking about waking up your engine—100+ HP gains, 120+ lb-ft of torque over stock. Got supporting mods? You’re looking at even more. This isn’t just a bump in numbers; it’s the difference between “quick” and “what the hell was that?”

What’s the difference between OTS and Custom Tunes for the VR30 engine?

The difference comes down to personalization and power. Here’s the breakdown:

OTS (Off-The-Shelf) Tunes:
• Pre-configured maps designed for quick installation.
• Ideal for stock or lightly modified VR30 engines (e.g., upgraded heat exchanger or intakes).
• Includes two maps (daily and race) with basic launch control.
• No revisions or customization—flash it and you’re good to go.
• Perfect for drivers looking for instant, reliable power gains without the hassle of logging or fine-tuning.

Custom Tunes:
• Tailored to your specific setup and performance goals.
• Supports advanced modifications like ethanol blends (E30/E85), upgraded turbos, HPFP/LPFP, and more.
• Includes map switching (e.g., high-boost, low-boost) and advanced launch control.
• Requires data logging and multiple revisions for optimized performance.
• Ideal for enthusiasts pushing their VR30 to the limit and wanting every ounce of power.

Which tune should I choose for my VR30?

It depends on your setup and goals:
• If you’re running stock or lightly modified, go with an OTS tune for easy, reliable power gains.
• If you’re chasing big numbers or running advanced mods, Custom is the way to go.

Can Racemode handle ethanol blends like E30 or E85?

Hell yes. If you’re running E30, a flex-fuel kit gets you there. For E85 (anything over E50), we’ll need to upgrade your HPFP, LPFP, and slap on that flex-fuel kit. Ethanol is the cheat code for unlocking next-level power, and we tune it like pros.

Does the tune come with launch control and map switching?

Of course. Custom tunes include launch control, plus map switching so you can go from daily driver to track assassin at the push of a button.

Do I have to visit the shop for Racemode Tuning?

Nope. You could be in Houston or halfway across the globe—we’ve got you covered. All you need is an EcuTek Bluetooth module, a smartphone, and an internet connection. We’ll walk you through the whole process like you’re here with us.

What do I need to get started with Racemode Tuning?

Here’s your checklist:
• EcuTek Bluetooth module
• A solid smartphone (or a Windows laptop for the initial flash if you’re running BMW)
• A good internet connection
• Any mods already installed before the first flash—don’t leave us guessing.

How long does the tuning process take?

On average, 6–10 business days. How fast we finish depends on how quickly you respond and send logs. Custom tuning is a team effort—don’t ghost us, and we’ll get you ripping down the road ASAP.

What if I run into issues during the process?

Problems? Not a chance—just solutions. Call us at (832) 786-9038 or hit us up on the email thread you’re already in. Attach your data logs, DTC codes, and any details, and we’ll get it sorted. You’re not alone in this.

Can I tweak the tune later?

While we don’t include lifetime updates for modifications, you can always pay for a retune if your setup changes. If the changes are minor and within the first month—like adding certain mods we already support—we’ll update it for free. Just reach out, and we’ll let you know what qualifies.

Will this void my warranty?

It depends on your dealership, and let’s face it, some are chill, and some aren’t. They’ll need to prove the tune caused an issue to void your warranty. Pro tip: we give you a stock file to flash back before you roll into the service bay. Talk to your advisor and play it smart.

How do I keep my VR30 running strong after tuning?

Maintenance is everything when you’re running tuned. Stay on top of your oil changes (high-quality synthetic only), swap those spark plugs regularly, and keep an eye on fluids like coolant and transmission oil. Also, invest in an upgraded heat exchanger—it’s a no-brainer for keeping temps in check when you’re pushing serious power.

How fast do you respond?

Fast. We aim for a 24-48 hour turnaround during business days. Custom tunes often see daily revisions unless we’re slammed, in which case it’s closer to 48. Either way, you’ll never be left hanging—no ghosting, no weeks of waiting. That’s not how we roll.

What mods do I need to run Racemode Tuning?

None, technically. Racemode Tuning delivers power gains even on stock setups. But if you want to go all-in, start with an upgraded heat exchanger, free-flowing exhaust, and larger intakes. The more you bring to the table, the harder we can push.

What if I’m new to the tuning game?

First things first: get your car up to date with basic maintenance (fluids, spark plugs, filters). Once that’s dialed in, start with the essentials—heat exchanger, exhaust, and intake. Call us if you need advice—we’ll steer you right.

What if I’m not local to Houston?

No big deal. We’ve tuned thousands of cars worldwide without ever meeting the drivers in person. As long as you’ve got the gear (Bluetooth module, phone), we can bring Racebox-level performance to you.
