What Makes Racebox Special

Our humble beginnings

Racebox was conceptualized when our founder Hussain Boxwala was trying to purchase a tune for his VR30 powered Q50 back in 2018. When speaking with tuners, he realized that there was a need for clear communication, honest work, and prompt response service. In an effort to create the best customer experience possible, Hussain set out to develop his first Q50 calibration on his personal vehicle.

100% Honest Marketing

Our main goal is to provide customers with the most realistic expectations for their vehicles. This means we'll never lie about the mods on our shop cars, the times they run, or the power they make. We aim to always provide the most information possible, like listing ambient conditions and correction factors on all dyno charts. We're not here to push an agenda, we're here to help you achieve your goals.

World-class Customer Support

There's nothing more frustrating than waiting weeks for a reply from your tuner, which is why we'll never take longer than 48 hours to get back to you. Often times, it's same day replies. We know you value your time, and so do we. We're reachable via phone, text, or e-mail, and we'll never leave you hanging :)

Racemode Tuning FAQ

We've curated a list of the most common questions y'all have when reaching out to us. Please see the cards to the right for some of the more frequent ones.

What is VR38 Racemode Tuning?

VR38 Racemode Tuning isn’t just a tune—it’s a legacy upgrade. Our proprietary calibration transforms the R35 GTR into an unstoppable force. Whether you’re chasing 1000+ HP or improving throttle response for everyday driving, this is the tune that puts the “Godzilla” in its prime. Expect monstrous power, pinpoint precision, and neck-snapping torque.

Is VR38 Racemode Tuning safe for my ride?

Safe? Absolutely. Reliable? 100%. We don’t just throw numbers at the dyno and call it a day—we fine-tune your setup to unleash raw power while keeping your VR38 engine rock solid. With Racebox, performance and reliability go hand-in-hand.

Which vehicles can run VR38 Racemode Tuning?

If it’s a Nissan R35 GTR, you’re in the right place. From the early 2009 models to the latest editions, if it’s running the VR38 engine, it’s ready for Racemode Tuning.

What kind of power are we talking here?

For a VR38, the numbers speak for themselves:

OTS Tune: Gains of 80-120 WHP and 100-140 WTQ over stock.

Custom Tune: With upgraded turbos, ethanol, and supporting mods, you’re looking at 1000+ WHP and torque that’ll pin you back in your seat.

What’s the difference between OTS and Custom Tunes for the VR38 engine?

The difference comes down to how far you want to push your setup.

OTS (Off-The-Shelf) Tunes:

• Pre-configured maps for stock or lightly modified setups.

• Includes two maps (daily and sport) with basic launch control.

• No revisions—flash it and you’re good to go.

Custom Tunes:

• Tailored specifically to your mods and goals.

• Supports ethanol blends (E30/E85), upgraded turbos, larger injectors, and more.

• Includes map switching for multiple configurations (e.g., high-boost, low-boost).

• Requires data logging and multiple revisions for perfect results.

Which tune should I choose for my VR38?

It depends on your goals:

• If you’re running stock or minor upgrades like intakes or downpipes, go with an OTS tune for quick, reliable power.

• If you’ve got big plans with turbos, ethanol, or injector upgrades, Custom is your ticket to maximizing power.

Can Racemode handle ethanol blends like E30 or E85?

Hell yes. Ethanol tuning is where things get serious.

E30: Requires a flex-fuel kit and larger injectors.

E85 (E50+): Requires upgraded HPFP/LPFP systems and a flex-fuel kit.

Ethanol is how you unlock next-level performance from your R35 GTR, and we’ll make sure it’s dialed in perfectly.

Does the tune come with launch control and map switching?

Absolutely. Launch control is fully customizable with adjustable RPMs, and map switching lets you toggle between multiple setups—daily driver, high-boost, or track mode—at the push of a button.

Do I have to visit the shop for Racemode Tuning?

Nope. You could be in Houston or halfway across the world—we’ve got you covered. All you need is an EcuTek Bluetooth module, a smartphone, and an internet connection. We’ll guide you every step of the way.

What do I need to get started with Racemode Tuning?

Here’s your checklist:

• EcuTek Bluetooth module.

• A smartphone or laptop (Windows OS if needed).

• A stable internet connection.

• Any necessary mods installed before flashing (e.g., injectors, turbos).

How long does the tuning process take?

On average, 6–10 business days. How fast we finish depends on your response time with data logs and overall volume. Don’t ghost us, and we’ll get you shredding pavement ASAP.

What if I run into issues during the process?

Problems? Not a chance—just solutions. Call us at (832) 786-9038 or reply to your tuner’s email thread with your logs, DTC codes, or any details. We’ll troubleshoot and get you back on track.

Can I tweak the tune later?

Of course. If you add new mods or want to push for more power, we’ll adjust your tune. Minor changes within the first month—like bolt-ons—are free. Major updates, like turbo or ethanol upgrades, can be done with a retune package.

Will this void my warranty?

It depends on your dealership, and let’s face it, some are chill, and some aren’t. We provide a stock file for flashing back to factory settings before dealership visits to help minimize risk. Play it smart, and consult your service advisor if needed.

How do I keep my VR38 running strong after tuning?

Maintenance is key. Stick to regular oil changes (high-quality synthetic only), replace spark plugs regularly, and monitor your coolant and transmission fluids. For high-power setups, invest in upgraded cooling systems like larger intercoolers and oil coolers.

How fast do you respond?

Fast. We aim for a 24-48 hour turnaround during business days. Custom tuning often sees daily revisions unless we’re swamped, in which case it’s closer to 48 hours. You’ll never be left waiting.

What mods do I need to run Racemode Tuning?

None, technically. Even stock VR38 setups see major power gains with our tuning. However, if you’re aiming for big numbers, start with upgraded intakes, downpipes, and injectors. From there, the sky’s the limit.

What if I’m new to the tuning game?

No worries. Start with basic maintenance (fluids, spark plugs, filters), then move into beginner mods like intakes and exhausts. Give us a call if you’re unsure—we’ll guide you step by step.

What if I’m not local to Houston?

No problem. We’ve tuned thousands of R35 GTRs remotely. With the right tools (Bluetooth module, phone), we can deliver Racebox-level performance to you, wherever you are.
